Anna Weyant (b.1995) is a figurative oil painter from Calgary, Canada. Weyant received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2017 and currently lives and works in New York City. Play, corruption, and indulgence are important themes in Weyant’s work. She is interested in devious, semi-sympathetic characters and tragicomic narratives. Her figures are often self-reflective and primarily young women. In her work, Weyant searches for humour in the clash of youth rebellion and repression, and the seemingly paradoxical idea of misbehaving within a structured and controlled environment.
