H.R. Giger Hong Kong, Wan Chai

Parallel to the 2025 edition of Art Basel, KALEIDOSCOPE and Mai 36 Galerie present “H.R. Giger Hong Kong” at WOAW Gallery, the first solo exhibition of legendary Swiss artist H.R. Giger in the city. Part of a series curated by KALEIDOSCOPE’s creative director Alessio Ascari, reexamining Giger’s cross-generational legacy and influence, the show offers a rare opportunity to explore the dark beauty and visionary power of his art.

Highlights from the exhibition include the two original doors from the short-lived Giger Bar in Tokyo – a total environment designed by the artist in 1989 with custom roof, walls, and fittings – as well as one of his iconic Harkonnen chairs. The exhibition also features the renowned “Biomechanoid” portfolio, originally produced with Galerie Bruno Bischofberger in 1969, an early body of work which lays the foundation for Giger’s influential aesthetic.
